NDU Integrates USAID Knowledge Management Resources into Curriculum to Enhance NGO Management Education
In its ongoing efforts to ensure the sustainability of USAID-developed learning resources, the Community Support Program (CSP) successfully transferred its Knowledge Management Portal from the CSP website to the Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) E-library, which now hosts a comprehensive collection of over 200 training modules, reports, tip sheets, and guidelines. The resources cover an array of topics including municipal/non-governmental organization (NGO) governance, leadership, financial management, digital media, and environmental compliance. NDU took a significant step in leveraging the newly transferred resources by incorporating them into its academic curriculum. On November 26 and 28, 2024, NDU Professor, Dr. Maria Njaim, in collaboration with an expert in NGO management and governance, delivered two interactive lectures as part of the “Human Rights in International Politics” course within the Faculty of Law and Political Science. The first lecture, “Proposal Writing for NGOs”, equipped students with practical tools for developing compelling proposals. The second lecture, “Fundraising for
NGOs”, introduced effective strategies to secure funding for nonprofit initiatives. Twenty-seven undergraduate students actively participated in these sessions, bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. “The lectures were highly informative and gave us actionable insights that will not only aid our studies but also prepare us for meaningful careers in the nonprofit sector,” said Sasha Haidar, a student at the Faculty of Public Administration.
