Notre Dame University Launches a New Municipal Training Program with Support from USAID
On August 20 and 21, 2024 and with support from the USAID-funded CSP, Notre Dame University (NDU) trained for the first time a group of municipalities on “Standard Bidding Documents for Public Procurement” and “Legal Perspective of Managing Investment Projects”.
This training came after USAID transferred to NDU a rich library of municipal and civil society organizations training materials originally developed by USAID’s previous BALADI CAP project and the ongoing Community Support Program. Using the USAID-funded training material and trainers from NDU’s Long Life Training Center, the first training course conducted on August 20-21 benefitted members from 12 municipalities in Keserwan district.
“This was the first time that I learned about management of investment projects. It changed my perspective on the benefits of building partnerships with the private sector,” said Ms. Roula Hellani, member of the Zeitoun municipality, Keserwan district. Training municipalities on how to partner with the private sector has also been expressed as a priority by the Director General of Municipalities at the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities as it helps municipalities increase municipal income while contributing to improved livelihoods and job creation.
