Despite the injuries he sustained in Beirut explosions on August 4, Ali immediately started looking for ways to help in the cleanup effort. He soon heard that USAID was paying more than 250 temporary workers to remove rubble and debris from hard-hit Beirut neighborhoods, including his own community of Mar Mikhael, and he signed up.
