USAID – CSP Beirut Emergency Response — Fadia Makaw
When the explosion took place at the Beirut Port on August 4, a resident named Fadia found herself seeking shelter by hiding in a manhole. Even though the memory is painful, Fadia came back to help her neighborhood through USAID’s Community Support Program CSP. She is one of more than 250 local temporary workers whom USAID – US Agency for International Development provided with the training and equipment needed to safely remove and either dispose of or recycle glass, rubble, and other wreckage in the most heavily impacted neighborhoods of east Beirut.
