Addressing the solid waste management crisis in Bechmizzine
CSP is carrying out a three-phase activity to provide Bechmezzine’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF) with the equipment and resources it needs in order to enhance productivity and efficiency, thereby enabling it to nearly double the amount of processed waste — from 939 tons to 1,697 tons. The intervention includes co-designing a viable business model with the MRF, providing it with essential collection and processing equipment (collection bins, back-up generator, truck weigh scale, etc.), and providing technical assistance related to the business model and the operations and maintenance of the equipment. CSP will also conduct an awareness campaign on sorting at source that will target the 18 villages the facility will be able to serve.
