Beqaa Village of Tannoura Inaugurates New Electric Generator Funded by USAID

This week, the Community Support Program (CSP) in Lebanon funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) unveiled a 250-KvA generator provided to the village of Tannoura located in the Rachaya district. The village’s previous generator was severely damaged in January as a result of the harsh winter weather, which resulted in a village-wide blackout.

The inaugural event took place in Rachaya, in the presence of the district Qai’m maqam, Mr. Nabil el Masri, Ms. Christine Sayegh representing USAID, municipal board members of Tannoura, including recently elected mayor Mr. Ali Abou Zour, representatives of CSP in Lebanon, and other local stakeholders.

Tannoura’s newly-acquired generator provides back-up power to the village’s 1,100 residents, including households without previous access, as well as public spaces and street lights.
